SmartChat is built to comply with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Our foundation

• Data hosted in the Johannesburg Google Cloud region.
• Encryption in transit and at rest.
• Role-based access control and audit logs.
• A designated Information Officer at Ruka Group.

Your role as a Responsible Party

When you use SmartChat to communicate with customers, you are the Responsible Party. We are the Operator. Our data processing agreement is available on request from legal@ruka.africa.

Breaches

If a breach happens, we notify you as soon as reasonably possible, and in any case within the timelines POPIA requires.
